Longines announced blue-dial versions of the Spirit Pilot and the Spirit Pilot Flyback on September 24. Neither is a limited edition, and both are available now. The two models arrived in 2025 as a more compact take on the Spirit aviation line, and the blue versions join them in the permanent collection.

## Spirit Pilot

The time-only model keeps its 39mm steel case, 11.5mm thick, with a screw-down crown and 100m of water resistance. The dial is matte blue with applied Arabic numerals, and there is no date. Inside is the automatic caliber L888.4, a [COSC](https://wristmetric.com/culture/how-to-read-a-watch-spec-sheet)-certified chronometer with a silicon hairspring and a 72-hour power reserve.

It costs $2,700 on a rubber strap or $3,100 on a steel bracelet.

## Spirit Pilot Flyback

The chronograph is a little larger, at 39.5mm across and 13.4mm thick. It uses the hand-wound caliber L792.4, a column-wheel flyback chronograph that is also COSC certified, with a 68-hour reserve. The two-register dial puts small seconds at 9 o'clock and a 30-minute counter at 3, again in matte blue with no date. A bidirectional bezel carries a blue ceramic insert. The crystal is box-shaped sapphire, there is a display back, and water resistance is 100m.

Prices are $5,250 on rubber and $5,550 on the bracelet.

## Why it matters

The appeal of both watches is in the [proportions](https://wristmetric.com/culture/the-quiet-return-of-the-38mm-watch). A chronometer-certified automatic with a silicon hairspring and 72 hours of reserve, in a 39mm case with 100m of water resistance, is a complete technical package for $2,700. The flyback is the more interesting of the pair. Chronographs tend to grow in diameter and height, and keeping a column-wheel flyback to 39.5mm by 13.4mm, box crystal included, is notable on paper.

The blue dial changes no specification, so this is a color choice rather than an upgrade. The $400 premium for the bracelet on the time-only model is worth weighing, since the rubber version uses the same case and movement.
