Tissot introduced the PRX Quartz Chronograph in mid-September, adding a [quartz](https://wristmetric.com/buying-guides/seven-watches-that-make-a-strong-case-against-quartz) chronograph to the current PRX collection. It costs $525 on the integrated steel bracelet and is not a limited edition.

## The watch

The steel case measures 41mm across and 11.65mm thick, and it keeps the PRX's integrated bracelet, here with a quick-release system. Three dials are offered, all vertically brushed, in silver with rose gold accents, black or blue. The lume is Super-LumiNova, the date sits at 4 o'clock, the crystal is sapphire, and water resistance is 100m.

The movement is the G10.212, a PowerDrive quartz chronograph. Its subdials include a register that counts tenths of a second, and it has a split-time function, which lets the wearer freeze the readout for an intermediate time while the chronograph keeps running underneath. An end-of-life indicator warns when the battery is running down.

## Where it fits

The PRX name dates to a 1978 [Tissot](https://wristmetric.com/brands/tissot) design, and the modern line already includes an automatic chronograph. On Tissot's US site that model is 42mm by 14.54mm and costs $2,150. The quartz version is roughly a quarter of the price and almost 3mm thinner, a meaningful difference for a watch with an integrated bracelet, where case height decides how flat it sits on the wrist. It also undercuts the three-hand [PRX Powermatic 80](https://wristmetric.com/buying-guides/the-watches-we-would-actually-buy-under-1000), which is $850.

What buyers give up is the automatic model's mechanical caliber, with its 68-hour reserve. What they gain is a thinner case and finer timing, down to tenths of a second, with split times on top. For people who want the PRX shape with a chronograph and have no strong attachment to mechanics, the numbers favor this one.

Buyers open to a different shape have a cheaper light-powered option. The TX02 Solar Chronograph is $350 at [Orient Watch USA](https://www.orientwatchusa.com/products/ra-tx0203s10b), with a 42.8mm steel case, a flat sapphire crystal and 200m of water resistance, and it is charged by light, so there is no routine battery change. We set it against [Citizen](https://wristmetric.com/brands/citizen)'s Endeavor in [Orient TX02 vs. Citizen Endeavor Chrono](https://wristmetric.com/comparisons/orient-tx02-vs-citizen-endeavor-chrono).
